Bioz Stars
Bioz Stars scores guide you towards the best products and tools to purchase for your scientific experiments, with the number of stars indicating the likelihood that a product will work well in your experiment. Products that have been used more frequently and more recently than other products, as documented in published articles, receive higher Bioz Stars scores. By selecting products with the most stars, you will be increasing the likelihood that your experiments will be successful.
Yes, Bioz Stars scores are 100% objective, and have ZERO BIAS. The stars are calculated using a sophisticated multi-parameter mathematical model, with all products and tools evaluated based on the same objective set of criteria. We don’t use any human-generated reviews, as they are inherently biased. By basing Bioz Stars scores exclusively on measured product usage data, as documented in peer-reviewed published science articles, you are getting a direct glimpse into which products worked well for other researchers. Bioz is your trusted source for decision-making guidance when selecting the best products and tools for your experiments. AI experts, 3 Nobel Laureates, experienced mathematicians, and data scientists from Google, have validated the accuracy of Bioz Stars scores.
The Bioz Stars scoring algorithm cannot be influenced by outsiders, whether they be researchers or vendors, period! At Bioz, all products, tools, reagents, kits, lab instruments, and lab equipment are treated equally. We don’t play favorites, and scientific tool vendors can’t pay us to improve their Bioz Stars scores. The scores are never artificially altered or boosted; in particular, the scores can neither be influenced nor altered as a result of payment of fees, sponsorship, advertising, or other forms of payment. Objectivity and elimination of bias is our goal. ZERO BIAS is at the core of Bioz.
The core factors that the Bioz Stars scoring algorithm takes into account are detailed above. We don’t share the inner-workings of the algorithm so that we can maintain the neutrality and integrity of the Bioz Stars scores. Moreover, we do not disclose the weights that we assign to each factor, so that it isn’t possible to boost scores by “gaming the system” to gain an unfair advantage.
Absolutely not! Bioz generates Bioz Stars scores for every product that our advanced AI is able to identify within 35 million published peer-reviewed science articles. Bioz.com lists 300 million products from 50,000 vendors.
Bioz vStars
Bioz vStars scores guide you towards the best products and tools to purchase for your scientific experiments, with the number of stars indicating the likelihood that an uncited product will work well in your experiment. A product with a high Bioz vStars score is a product from a vendor that has a large number of cited products that were used frequently and recently. By selecting products with high Bioz vStars scores, you will be increasing the likelihood that your experiments will be successful..

The stars are calculated using a sophisticated multi-parameter mathematical model, with all uncited products and tools evaluated based on the same objective set of criteria. We don’t use any human-generated reviews, as they are inherently biased. Because Bioz vStars scores are based on the measured average usage of a vendor’s cited products, as documented in peer-reviewed published science articles, you are getting a direct glimpse into which vendors have the largest number of products that worked well for other researchers.

Bioz vStars scores are based on the assumption that if a vendor has high-quality products that are mentioned (cited) in articles, then it is likely that its other products will also be high-quality. Bioz vStars scores guide researchers in their product evaluation process when a product doesn’t have any article mentions, and therefore, a Bioz Stars score is not associated with it. A product may not have any article mentions due to one or more of the following reasons: (1) it is a new product, (2) it is rarely used, (3) it is the type of product that researchers do not typically mention in articles. Bioz vStars scores provide a snapshot assessment, and should be considered alongside other information, including Bioz’s unique experimentation insights, that have been identified and structured from within scientific articles.
