    Cell Signaling Technology Inc acclimatization
Box plots of percent correct speech recognition scores for two unaided and three aided test conditions and for both new (New; gray) and experienced (Exp; white) hearing aid (HA) users. The circles at the top and bottom of each box plot represent the 95th and 5th percentiles, respectively. The solid lines within each box plot represent the medians, with the dashed lines representing the means. Results are presented separately for each of three different speech recognition measures from top to bottom. The heavy dashed horizontal line in each panel illustrates the study interval or potential <t>acclimatization</t> period from 1 to 12 months (mo) postfit. NST = Nonsense Syllable Test; CST = Connected Speech Test; SNR = signal-to-noise ratio.

Article Snippet: Of these three significant main effects of postfit interval, only the last one (CST in quiet) might be consistent with the expectations from auditory acclimatization, although even here the absence of a significant improvement from 1 to 6 months postfit is unexpected.

Article Title: Reexamination of Data on the Acclimatization of Hearing Aid Benefit Using Experienced Hearing Aid Wearers as Controls
Article Snippet: Purpose: The purpose of this article was to present a reanalysis of data on auditory acclimatization published several years ago by the author but without the separation of the results for new and experienced hearing aid users, with the latter serving as a control group.. Method: Following the separation of the data into two groups, new versus experienced hearing aid users, mixed general linear model analyses were performed for each of eight outcome measures, namely, three auditory speech recognition measures covering a range of materials and listening conditions and five selfreport measures pertaining to speech communication and hearing difficulties.. For each of the outcome measures, postfit interval was the within-subject variable with values of 1, 6, or 12 months and group was the between-subjects variable.
